Sue Balsom founded FBA initially as a PR company in 1989. A history of continuous growth has seen the development of FBA's award-winning design and branding business as well as a separate publishing arm in the group's structure.

Before creating FBA, Sue worked as a teacher, university careers adviser, freelance journalist and TV researcher and a period in the Public Affairs Department of Shell UK. She has written regularly for The Times and Western Mail and Welsh local newspapers as well as other publications such as The Economist Intelligence Reports and Country Living magazine.

As Managing Director of FBA, Sue Balsom is principal PR and Public Affairs Accounts Director. Special interests include green energy, food and drink industries, land development and agriculture.

Sue has a distinguished record of public service. She is currently the Content Board Member for Wales on Ofcom, the UK telecoms and broadcast regulator. Prior to joining Ofcom, she served for five years as Vice Chair of the BBC Broadcasting Council for Wales. She has also recently taken on Chairmanship of the Prince's Trust Cymru. Other public appointments include being a former Board Member of the Welsh Development Agency and Finance Wales and the regional board of TV AM. She is a Trustee of the Centre for Alternative Technology. In 2004 she was named ‘Welsh Woman of the Year’ by the Western Mail.
