Denis Balsom BSc Econ, PhD
Chairman and Company Secretary

Dr Denis Balsom is a former lecturer in the Department of International Politics, University of Wales, Aberystwyth. His special interest is Welsh politics and he is a frequent broadcaster and commentator on Welsh affairs.

Dr Balsom has been a programme consultant to ITV Wales for over 15 years. An Honorary Research Fellow in The Welsh Governance Centre, Cardiff University, he is an authority on social and political survey research.

Denis created The Wales Yearbook, an annual publication now in its 17th year. Dubbed “the journalists' bible”, the book is an authoritative guide to public affairs in Wales and includes over 5000 named contacts including some 1700 elected officials from all areas of Welsh public life. This unique database (together with associated unpublished material) is exclusive to FBA and offers clients access to a powerful marketing and communications resource. The success of The Wales Yearbook is also a cornerstone to FBA's successful press and media network.

Associated Public Affairs work includes the company's watching brief on Welsh current affairs and confidential written and informal intelligence briefings to clients on a regular or project basis.

In a voluntary capacity Denis is a Trustee of the Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charitable Trust, Director of the Gregynog Press and a Director of the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
